Dimensions

Condition
There are marks, knocks and scratches commensurate with age and use. There are various minor splits, losses and repair to the veneer and inlay. The chest has been cut (probably for removal) and there is evidence of previous restoration that probably occurred at a similar time, including replacement of the outer border and crossbanded edge of the top, re-lining of the drawers and replacement of the backboards, handles and bun feet. There is a loss to the bottom of the escutcheon of the bottom drawer. There are occasional woodworm holes but the chest appears structurally sound and all the drawers run smoothly. The chest has a very good colour and patina and the parquetry of the top is in generally good order. An unusual and useful chest of attractive proportions.
Time period
