This is an attractive 17th century walnut and mahogany bureau with a fall front that opens to reveal a writing slope and fitted interior including two secret drawers. This is above two short over three long drawers and raised on ogee bracket feet.

Condition
There are marks, ink stains and scratches commensurate with age and use. There are some scratches and scuffs around the fitted drawers and some repairs to the drawer linings, particularly the left short drawer which has been re-lined. There is a small amount of historic woodworm (treated). The feet and handles are later, but the handles in particular are old (probably Georgian). The piece has a pleasing warm colour, the joints are sound and the drawers run smoothly.
