18th century oak two part geometric chest of drawers
Dimensions
92cm high x 103cm wide x 64cm deep
Condition
There are some marks, stains and scratches commensurate with age and use. The chest has undergone considerable sympathetic restoration at some point, to include replacement of the top, some of the drawer linings and bottom boards, and the back right upright of section of the bottom part, as well as other occasional small repairs. The feet have been reduced in height and there are some localised areas of woodworm. The resulting chest is solid and sound and has a good colour. The handles vary slightly from one another. The drawers move freely but have a little lateral movement on the runners so occasionally need a shuffle to line them up correctly when returning them in the carcase, as is often necessary in a chest of this age.
Time period
Charles II; late 17th century
